The Return of Great Power Rivalry: Democracy versus Autocracy from the Ancient World to the U.S. and China
Bernard and Irene Schwartz Distinguished Speakers Series
Featuring: Matthew Kroenig, Roger Hertog

What is the future of global geopolitics? The return of the great power struggle between the United States, Russia, and China signals a changing landscape, but will this displace U.S. global leadership? Author and scholar Matthew Kroenig looks to historical evidence to explore how democracies thrive during such rivalries and argues that the United States, despite challenges, is well positioned to maintain a global leadership role.

Matthew Kroenig, author of The Return of Great Power Rivalry: Democracy versus Autocracy from the Ancient World to the U.S. and China, is a professor in the Department of Government and the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University.

Roger Hertog (moderator) is president of the Hertog Foundation, chairman of the Tikvah Fund, and chairman emeritus of the New-York Historical Society.
