Do I need to be a New-York Historical member to purchase a program?
Not at all! Members receive complimentary access to most program content, but all programs listed on the Public Programs Video Library page are available for purchase by the general public. Please see below for more information on this process.
I’m a New-York Historical Society Member. Is my login the same as it is when I reserve tickets via nyhistory.org?
You will need to create a unique account and password, as content available in the Public Programs Video Library is hosted by a separate network. To ensure you receive Member’s access and privileges, the email address you use to log into the database must match the email address linked to your membership. If you need to confirm the email address associated with your membership—or if you would like to check your membership status—please email membership@nyhistory.org or call 212-485-9279. We will send an email with your log in ID (email address) and system generated password, once you log in you may change your password.
I am not a New-York Historical Society Member. How do I create an account to purchase and view programs?
Click on the video you would like to purchase, you will then be prompted to create an account and enter credit card payment information.
I am not a New-York Historical Society Member, but I have purchased tickets to programs on New-York Historical’s website in the past. Is my login the same as it is on nyhistory.org?

How do I reset my password?
If you cannot remember your password, please select the “Forgot Your Password?” option to create a new password. Please be sure to check your spam folder. If you need additional assistance, please contact public.programs@nyhistory.org or call 212-485-9205.
What benefits do I receive when accessing the Public Programs Video Library as a Member of the New-York Historical Society?
Members receive complimentary access to most program content.
Will I receive a receipt or confirmation email for the programs I’ve purchased?
Yes. You will receive a confirmation email at the email address you used for your login. Please be sure to check your spam folder if you do not see a confirmation email.
Viewing Programs:
I heard about a New-York Historical Society program, and it isn’t listed here. Where can I find it?
Please note that not all past program recordings are available for viewing. Click on the provided links to view more information about Upcoming Programs, Family Programs, and Past Programs.
How long do I have to view the program(s) I purchased?
Videos purchased from the Public Programs Video Library do not expire and can be watched multiple times.

Can I purchase viewing access to videos purchased from the Public Programs Video Library over the phone?
At this time, purchasing access to videos purchased from the Public Programs Video Library is available online only.
What is your refund and exchange policy?
No refunds or exchanges are permitted.
Why is my content is not loading or freezing?

Video Playback Questions:
My video does not playback smoothly. How can I fix this?
Video playback depends on several factors. To improve your playback experience, make sure you have a fast, stable internet connection. We recommend using the most recent version of Chrome, Firefox, or Safari. You may experience playback issues with outdated devices and browsers.
Can I watch videos using Chromecast and AirPlay?
Yes! Both Chromecast and Airplay are compatible with our site.
To use Chromecast: Locate the Chromecast icon in the bottom right corner of the video you want to cast. Click the icon and select the correct Chromecast from the pop-up in your browser.
To use AirPlay: Open the video on your apple device and click the AirPlay icon in the bottom left corner.
Can I watch videos on my TV without using an app?
Yes. By connecting your laptop directly to your TV with an HDMI cable, you will be able to watch videos from our site on your TV.
Can I watch videos on my phone or tablet without using an app?
Yes. Our website adapts to phone and tablet browsers so you can watch our content anywhere!
Which browsers are supported?
While we recommend using the latest version of Google Chrome, we also support Firefox and Safari browser released within the last five years. You may experience playback issues when using an out of date browser or any version of Internet Explorer.
